About Darren

Brief Description
Guy from New Zealand, lil' bit funny, lil' bit nice guy, lil' bit left field, all the time genuine. An INFJ personality, genuinely likes to help people, not pretentious, a good guy to have on your side. Not that complicated.
Introduction
Born in New Zealand in the early 70's, he grew up with his (thankfully) understanding Mother and attended all of his schooling in the bustling pioneering Waikato town of Matamata (aka Hobbiton – where actual Hobbits live). For more see - http://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/home-property/10294225/Lets-live-in-Matamata

There (and all over the North Island) he participated in competitive swimming at a National level, played soccer (football to you fanatics), got into music as a lead vocalist - but struggled with stage fright - played a bit of water polo and began his love affair with various types of martial arts.

During these formative years he was exposed to unique phrases such as "we're swimming how far this morning?", "If I have the ball, why can't I use my elbows or be airborne?" and "Isn't Zen some kind of high performance car tyre I could put on my Kingswood?". Not that he owned a Kingswood. Or could afford tyres.

He eventually attended Polytechnic studying Hospitality and Tourism which was after (Mr Leggatt, you're...) leaving school. His time at Polytechnic gave him an over-developed ability to celebrate important things like "Tuesday" (minus any budget), not to mention the necessary ground breaking skills which assisted him in deciding to NOT pursue a career in Hospitality. After all, who wants to work when everyone else you know would be socialising? The fact he and industry late-night arrogant door security staff were never able to get on, we are assured "likely" had not too much to do with it.

Eventually (in his late 20's) he grew up some, started his path toward becoming a responsible adult and got on toward making something of himself. It is said he generally "adults" fairly well these days.

He has an adulte son, adult daughter and a young step son, is married to a wonderful woman, they have a brilliant black and white lab cross staffordshire dog named Toby, and yes, happiness is the name of the game in their house. Darren also has the unique distinction of being known as "Poppa Daz" since his daughter now has her own daughter too, with another on the way. Its a bit street, a good name.

All together, they are your typical NZ family with good days and bad.

It is true that he has become fractionally more responsible with age and perhaps even slightly more professional too. Most of his teachers from school would be suitably shocked with how centred and driven he is these days.

He is a 24/7 Contact Centre Manager for a reputable infrastructure company in the Bay Of Plenty, New Zealand. He has been managing large groups / teams for 25 something years, learning from some amazing people at all levels along the way, most notably from the very members of the teams he has led. He has worked for some amazing businesses (and a hideously bad one, notably run by a cult pretending to be nice, normal people) and has learnt something from each and every one. Life can be hard, bad people can seem like good people, but Life can be amazing. You need to experience truly bad things to truly experience the very good.

He is also addicted to his blacked out Harley Davidson Softail Slim motorcycle, tinkers away on it making it go faster and look cooler, all the while taking far longer than perhaps anyone else would. He has also been the proud owner of several Ducati Monster sports bikes and a Harley Davidson Street Bob, all of which he has been lucky and has worked very hard to own. His blacked out Jeep 6.4 litre V8 SRT is also a firm favourite.

He is an INFJ personality (info if you want it, chance to take the test and find out yours, click here), which he is well aware categorizes him as "a bit weird" but at least it is in a good way.

This site is a genuine attempt to help you or someone you know, maybe give you a laugh or perhaps teach you something along the way.

If not, no harm, no foul. It's not like you're paying for this stuff :)

So - please read on and enjoy!  All comments or post submissions are welcome.
